Reasons Why I Should be British

I have come to the conclusion that I was supposed to grow up British. I love all British things!! I think that British people are lovely and attractive and have a better sense of humor than Americans.

THE REASONS:

X Factor: One of the biggest American shows EVER is American Idol. I watch the British equivalent, X Factor, and I think it is wonderful. British people seem to have more raw talent than Americans. Sort of like how Britain's Got Talent is about 400x better than America's Got Talent. Just saying ..

HARRY POTTER!!! My obsession. I love absolutely everything about the series, as does everyone!! Harry Potter is something that will never get old. Thanks Ms. Rowling!!

British people can laugh at themselves. This is something you never see Americans do. British people make videos of themselves making tea and ridiculing their slightly old-fashioned system of government. Americans would never make fun of themselves, and deny everything that is their own fault ..

British people are darn attractive. Or as they would say, "dishy" or "fit." But seriously. British teenage boys especially. I think it's mostly to do with the accent, which I love. Which brings me to ...

That beautiful accent!!! Whenever I come across a person with that beautiful British accent, I just want be like, "OOH! Say more words!!" British accents make the people speaking them seem more kind, civilized, funny, and attractive in my mind. All good things! Gotta love that accent. It's irresistible. And fun to try speaking, too!!

Music. Beatles, anyone? Some of the best music has come of of Britain. Must have to do with how the British are so creative!

Musicals. BILLY ELLIOT NEED I SAY MORE. Okay, I will. Sweeney Todd, for example. My Fair Lady!! Gotta love 'em.

Comedy. We already know that British people are the funniest people in the world, but this point is really brought home by Mr. Bean, who I could watch all day.

Britain is Beautiful! People in the UK (yes I know that includes parts of Ireland, which is beautiful too) really know how to take care of their land. Picturing Britain, I picture green landscapes and stunning architecture. Lovely! No wonder people were told to "think of England" when they were going through something unpleasant.

The lingo. I would much rather say I had a "smashing" time at the party. Or saying, "oh, bollocks" when something goes wrong. Which I do! And said in that lovely accent, the language is art! I have also come to reali(s)e that I know more British than American slang. Hmmm..

BBC is bookmarked way before the New York Times website or the Washington Post on my computer. I know more about British entertainment and slang than I do American. British children are adorable. Not that I don't love my country, I just feel like I turned up at the wrong place sometimes. Maybe I just didn't speak clearly enough to the Floo Powder ..
